Parallel to Amalia’s story, the series also follows the lives of other women ensnared by the favelas’ dangerous allure, including her sister Clarissa, who longs to escape her degrading life as a maid, and tourists who naively enter this violent world. As Bezelbu’s empire expands, a determined reporter begins investigating his criminal empire, setting off a chain of events that bring her face to face with the city's darkest secrets.
